Dinner Theme Saturday: "50 Shades of Gold"

Messages below from Paul ter Bogt, Kiwanis Casuarina

Hello everyone,

We hope you are looking forward to leaving Winter behind and defrosting in sunny Darwin for the upcoming Kiwanis National Convention, starting Thursday 24 August.

While there is still some tinkering to be done, we are have a reasonably stable program in place which includes one major change that we think most people will be happy with.

Due to numbers and cost, we have changed our Saturday night gala dinner to something on a slightly smaller scale. Note that the dinner venue and menu are still great, a 4 hour drinks package is included and we also have some groovy tunes to get you in the mood.

But with the extra savings made we have squeezed in a Friday night dinner as well, which most people had said they wanted. This will be a fun and casual affair from 7pm, hosted on the 16th floor with a view of Darwin city and harbour, as well as a twinkling night sky. It is a buffet dinner with canapes and again drinks are included for the evening.

It wasnt really in our budget and so we are asking people to buy some ’Croc Insurance’ at registration for $10 per person, to help with costs and of course to provide some very necessary financial protection for themselves should the worst occur...

For anyone that had not originally nominated to be part of the Friday night group dinner and would now like to change their mind due to this new offer, please email paul@darwinfsp.com.au, we are able to accommodate everyone that wants to come and it should be another great night for all.

We are hosting the convention information on the Sched website. This allows us to make ongoing changes to the program which you can then see, either on your computer or by saving a link to the program to your smart mobile phone. Then you will always have the latest version at your finger tips. You can also see who else is attending the conference and update your own profile with a photo and a few words.  Follow the link on the bottom left of this email ’Grab your Schedule’ to go to the Kiwanis Convention 2017 Sched program.

For those without a smart phone, a computer, IPad or even an email address (really? its been 20+ years people...) we will post out a copy of the program and also have copies available at registration, along with maps and other NT essentials (water, sun cream, bug spray, etc). Anyone that needs extra holiday planning help please let us know.

So pack your sunnies and speedos, and bring your best Kiwanis smile for all of those holiday snaps and selfies and we will see you all at the Hilton Doubletree registration desk next month.

Regards
Paul ter Bogt

Hello fellow Kiwanians

This email is a follow up to our message sent yesterday via Sched, our online program scheduler for the Convention here in Darwin. As a reminder, the Sched site contains a live updated version of our program, as well as attendees, speakers and venue information. You can visit the site HERE and create a log on to update your starter attendee profile and also create a link on your mobile phone for easy viewing later on.

For those that that didnt receive the email (check your email trash!) or havent accessed or been able to access the Sched website, we have attached a draft Convention program and a map of Darwin CDB marked with venue locations for the conference.

Please note that while the social activities and guest speaker times are mostly set,  the business conference session times and content are subject to change and further content will be upload to the Sched website in the next 2 weeks.

As noted in our last email, we have amended our Social program so that everyone is also invited to attend our informal Friday night dinner, 'Top of the Town', with entry via the purchase of some 'Croc Insurance' for only $10 per person. In return you will receive dinner, drinks and a unique 'Star Safari' experience, from 7pm until late.

Remember that the weather in Darwin is always warm, even at night, so pack accordingly - Thursday, Friday and Saturday night functions will all be outdoors and we would suggest cool and light clothing, especially for those escaping from a southern winter. (NB pants and shirt/dress are required for Parliament House entry on Thursday evening)

Please email or call me with any questions you may have or changes you wish to make to your event selections eg. those who originally said No to a possible Friday group dinner who now would like to attend our 'Top of the Town' function.

Regards
